Congratulations to Sports Scholar Sophie T (Year 11), who has been selected for the Ireland National Team for Netball. 

Sophie writes: ‘I was selected for the U17 Ireland Netball Academy in April 2023. I have been attending monthly training camps with Ireland since May, and was shortlisted in November 2023 and named Vice-Captain for the U17 Europe Netball Competition in March in Gibraltar.

‘We played a play-off game vs Northern Ireland last weekend, where I debuted for Ireland and gained my first international cap. This match determined whether we would play in the Championship or Challenge section of the tournament. We  won, and so secured our place in the Championship section of the tournament for the first time ever!

‘I will now continue to attend camps in preparation for the tournament at the beginning of March, where we will face, England, Scotland, Wales and the UAE.’
