We were honoured to be joined by West End star Alastair Brookshaw on Wednesday 7 February for the annual Gold Singing Competition.

The competition is open to all girls in Year 10 and above. Each entrant must prepare two pieces, a classical aria and a musical theatre number, to be performed at a concert in the Ernest Read Hall.

The standard was as high as ever this year, and our adjudicator faced a difficult decision.

The final results were as follows:

• Highly Commended: Bibi Jaafar and Rachel Poppleton
• Best Classical Song: Anna Rayson
• Best Musical Theatre Song: Eleanor Grant
• Overall Winner: Eleanor Grant
