Summer Holiday Fun On Your Doorstep…

Friday 30 June 2023

After a Summer Term brimming with activity and enrichment for our students, the holidays beckon and there is much fun to be had! To help you prepare for some summer entertainment, we have combined our two features Weekend Fun and On Your Doorstep to bring you suggestions of local activities you may wish to enjoy over the holidays.

Wishing you all sun, fun and special times!

For some al fresco fun this holiday, why not head to stunning Ashridge House to enjoy their summer events programme. Sunset Sessions will run every Friday evening in July and promise an evening of fantastic live music, tasty BBQ and bar. If outdoor cinema is more your thing, you could pack a picnic and take in a showing of Top Gun or Mamma Mia! on the italian lawn or for a more contemplative experience, tour the historic grounds and view this summer's Sculpture Exhibition, including heralded work by OQ Diane Maclean. Click here for more information.

If Drama is your thing, you can make some super savings this summer on theatre tickets. During August, the Kids Week initiative means that under 18s go free to any participating production when accompanied by a full paying adult. Shows available include Frozen, Aspects of Love, Wicked and The Choir of Man - but tickets are selling fast, so book soon to avoid disappointment!

For the freshest fruit and vegetables - why not try picking your own this summer? There are a number of PYO farms on our doorstep where you can buy seasonal crops and enjoy the great outdoors whilst shopping. Parkside Farm in Enfield update their online crop calendar regularly and you can book your picking slot ahead of time. Click here to make your booking.

There is a weekend of festivities planned at Hatfield House in July. On Saturday 15 July, the Battle Proms picnic concert will take place in the Queen Elizabeth Oak Field and it promises to be a spectacular summer celebration with music, fireworks, cannons and cavalry! Tickets are available here. The entertainment will continue on Sunday 16 July with the annual 'Folk by the Oak' festival. Headlining are The Waterboys, best known for their hit The Whole of the Moon and there will be lots of family activities to take part in. Buy your tickets in advance here.
