The Gold Singing Competition – an evening of exquisite music-making
Friday 15 November 2019
13 girls competed for the highly coveted Gold Singing trophy on Thursday 14 November.
Each girl had to prepare two pieces – a classical aria and a musical theatre number – to perform in front of a full house in the Ernest Read Hall. The finalists were put through their paces during an afternoon masterclass with West End star Michael McLean, where they worked on delivering confident and poised performances, in preparation for the sublime evening concert.
Our adjudicator, world-renowned soloist and session singer Jacqueline Barron, was very impressed with the standard of performance, and awarded the following prizes:
- COMMENDED: Emma Meyer
- COMMENDED: Jasmine Preko
- HIGHLY COMMENDED: Olivia Theodorou
- BEST CLASSICAL SONG: Lily Lazarus
- BEST MUSICAL THEATRE SONG: Manon Ludwick
- OVERALL WINNER: Lily Lazarus
