Third in the World for Girls’ Tennis – Again!
Tuesday 11 June 2019
We are thrilled to announce that our Tennis Team won the bronze medal on Saturday in their final match of the ISF World Schools Tennis Championship. In keeping with the recurring theme of the tournament, they did it in dramatic style: the match was decided on the last tie break.
Director of Tennis Catherine Sluter was overjoyed at the result. ‘The girls were absolutely outstanding all week in their playing, behaviour and team spirit. The tennis was extremely tough, with the team winning three out of their four group stages matches 3-2 after tie breaks. We beat France, Italy, Australia and the Netherlands. It was extremely hot and the girls – the youngest of whom is just 13 – were playing in altitude against 17-18 year olds.’
