Touch Typing Club: A Report from the Y7 Newsletter Team
Friday 14 March 2025
The Newsletter Club students were reporting out and about on Tuesday and dropped in to the Personalised Learning Centre to interview Mrs Alfieri about what goes on at her Touch Typing Club.
What is the purpose of this club?
The purpose of this club is to help students improve their touch typing skills - to build muscle memory, be more accurate and to learn not to look down on the keyboard! Students can also use the club to work towards the 'new skill' element of their DofE award.
What app do the students use?
The website that we use can be found at www.typing club.com. It can be used by anyone who has access to the internet and is completely free! There are 685 levels to work through! Here is an introductory video:
Is this a fun club?
Yes! We have 4 people currently attending the club who are working their way through the levels and improving their typing each week. Each level has a new skill element, a practice element and a fun game at the end to consolidate the new skill. Everyone is welcome to come to the club or students can access the TypingClub website for free in their own time. 15 minutes practice each day will turn you into a top touch typist!
How fast can students type after attending the club?
Miss McNeaney is the fastest attendee at the club and she can now type 55 words in a minute!
Touch Typing Club takes place on Tuesday in the Personalised Learning Centre at 1.45pm. Please come along!
