U14 Hockey – County Champions 2017
Friday 17 March 2017
Wednesday 15 March was the second night of County Cup Finals week, and another Queenswood team were crowned Champions.
The U14s met local rivals Dame Alice Owens in their semifinal. The U14s played a confident game to win 2-0 with goals from Lexi Mackay and Hannah Kilpatrick.
They went on to face Hockerill in the final. Hockerill proved tough opposition, holding Q at 0-0 at halftime despite some excellent build up play lead by Jemima Bisseker and Hannah Kilpatrick in midfield.
Captain Megan Langley stayed calm in defence, holding off some fast breaks. Brooke Henley made some crucial saves, before there was a break down the right hand side and the ball was crossed by Eliza Blayne to Annabel Davis, who put it in the back of the net to put Queenswood in the lead.
Within minutes Q were on the attack again, Hannah driving into the D to score a powerful shot from – 2-0!
Queenswood could not relax, as Hockerill soon came back harder and faster to reduce the deficit to 2-1. However, it was too late and the final result was 2-1 to Queenwood.
It was a great night’s work and the end of a very successful season for our U14s, who have won more matches than any other Q Hockey team this season.
