U18 East of England Indoor Hockey
Friday 4 December 2015
On Sunday 29 November the U18 Indoor squad travelled to the University of Essex to take part in the East of England Championships, playing for a place at the National finals.
To reach this stage the team had once again knocked out Haileybury and Bishops Stortford at the County round, making us double County champions. This a huge achievement of which we are very proud. At County level the U18s have not been beaten in either the Outdoor or Indoor Championships for eight years – a phenomenal record.
We played some great Hockey despite finishing in fifth place. Maddy Davies scored the opening goal of the tournament but the team then failed to score again against Chigwell, losing 2-1. We had a more impressive game against Bedford, winning 2-1. The story of the day was just not quite scoring. The team defended well and build-up play was effective; if all the near misses had been converted the team would have definitely been in contention.
With only three Upper Sixth leaving the squad this year we are confident of achieving even more success next season.
