We Will Rock You: How I Managed Boarding and Performing
Friday 15 December 2023
RACHEL F (YEAR 8), STAMP BOARDER
I was lucky enough to play a part in the school production of We Will Rock You. I played the part of one of the Killer Queens. I was the only queen in my year but I took that as a chance to become friends with the other queens as well as the other characters as well.
For the show, I had to miss two days of school. I did have to board an extra night because of rehearsal on Sunday. For the show night, this was my routine, since boarding was different that week:
5:45 – have supper
6:00-15 – get dressed into costume
6:30 – hair and make-up done
6:45 – give out programmes
7:30 – show starts
9:45 – show ends
10:00 – get changed and put costume in bag
10:00 – get back to Stamp and hand in tech
10:15 – have a shower and brush my teeth
10:20 – sleep
As you can see, my timetable was very complicated but I managed to not get too tired. My main problem was getting my homework done but I did my best and all the hard work paid off as it was a fantastic show and I was really proud to have been part of it!
