Weekend Fun: Create a Recipe Fit for The Queen
Friday 28 January 2022
On 6 February this year Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
One of the celebrations planned to mark this unprecedented anniversary is the Platinum Jubilee Pudding Competition, sponsored by Fortnum and Mason. The competition is open to all UK residents aged 8 and over and the winning pudding will be served at the Jubilee festivities.
The Queen's official competition closes on 4 February – so this weekend why not plan, practise and submit your pudding idea? For your chance to be part of history and to delight Her Majesty The Queen, enter your recipe ingredients, your cooking method and a photograph of your pudding on the Fortnum and Mason website here.
We will also be holding our own Queenswood Jubilee Pudding Competition which will be judged by our Practical Cookery Teacher, Mrs Lee, along with Queenswood’s Head Chef, Darren Kennedy and Head Girl, Peace A. Prizes will be awarded for the top three entries and the winning students will be invited by Mrs Lee to bake their puddings with her in the Practical Cookery Suite. The pudding which is awarded the first prize will be also be made by our fantastic Catering team and served to pupils and staff during the School's Jubilee celebrations.
To enter the Queenswood Jubilee Pudding Competition, please send details of your pudding's ingredients, your cooking method and a photograph of your finished pudding via email to [email protected] or upload your details to the Newsletter team Google Classroom.
The deadline to enter the Queenswood Jubilee Pudding Competition is Monday 21 February. This means you have the half-term break to perfect your puddings before entering.
