Weekend Fun: Euro 2024 is Here!

Friday 14 June 2024

There is only one type of fun to be had this weekend - football! As parents dust off their Euro 96 shirts and the humming of Baddiel and Skinner's anthem grows ever louder, we give you our guide to Euro 2024.

How does it work?

24 countries will compete at Euro 2024, with hosts Germany looking for their fourth tournament win. There will be a round of 16 before the quarter-finals as the top two teams from the six groups go through. And they will be joined by the four best third-placed teams to form the last 16. The knockout rounds then progress until the final and there will not be a third-place play-off at Euro 2024. You can find the match schedule here.

The Groups

As hosts, Germany take place A1 in the groups, and with their first match against Scotland, it will be a tense Friday night for the Tartan Army. As part of Group C, and with arguably the best attacking line up in the tournament, England enter the competition as one of the strong favourites. They will face tough opposition along the way, but we can dream of an England vs Scotland Final!
