Weekend Fun: Put your House in Order
Thursday 3 February 2022
Clearing clutter in your home doesn't just give you more space - it can also improve your wellbeing. Too much 'stuff' can make us feel distracted and overwhelmed in the one place that should really be our calm retreat from the busy world.
This weekend, why not put the Zen back in your home and organise your space the Marie Kondo way? You can watch an episode of the hit Netflix show Tidying with Marie Kondo for inspiration and then follow Marie's top tidying tips to declutter and simplify your life.
Tidying up your home using the KonMari method:
- When tidying, work through categories rather than rooms. For example if you are organising your towels, don't forget the towels stored in the bathroom, laundry, kitchen etc.
- Learn to fold vertically. This not only saves space but makes finding items easier.
- Declutter on your own. Only you can decide if you really want to keep something.
- Let go of the past. Don't feel bad about tidying your space and moving on from belongings. It is not wasteful or shameful to recycle or give things away.
- Make the most of storage solutions but only after you have decluttered.
