Weekend Fun: Spring is in the Air!
Thursday 20 March 2025
The much awaited warmer weather heralded the glorious arrival of spring this week, and we can't wait to get outside! Enjoying nature is a fantastic way to wind down and hit the reset button, so why not ditch the tech, take a little break from revision if you're in exam years, and head outside for some fun this weekend.
Here are our suggestions of activities you could try in our local area. Have fun!
Bottle Feed a Lamb!
There is nothing cuter than a spring lamb, and there are lots of petting farms and country parks nearby where you can have a go at feeding these adorable creatures. Check out Mead Open Farm, Aldenham Country Park or Church Farm in Ardeley for lamb feeding opportunities.
Brocket Hall Walk
Just a 10 minute drive from Q is Brocket Hall, a privately owned, stately home and golf course. You can enjoy stunning views of the estate on this 2 mile walk, which takes in the landscaped park, the Hall, a stucco ‘Temple’ built to designs by James Paine, along with a Palladian bridge and cascade. This leaflet from the Herts Garden Trust includes a route map of the walk and information about the places to look out for.
Parklife!
Why not visit the park and take a picnic, or if you're feeling energetic, you could take part in a Parkrun. Verulamium Park in St Albans has 100-acres of beautiful parkland, perfect for picnics! It's also just a short walk from the town centre where you can stock up on traditional picnic goodies or even pick up a take away. At weekends, there is a vibrant market selling hot and cold street food and many of the town's restaurants take online orders for collection.
