Year 10 DT: Getting to grips with woodworking
Friday 27 January 2023
Mr Turner’s Year 10 DT class have been busy honing their making skills over the past few months and looking at the properties of timber. Their first project was to make a pair of simple bookends – these took much longer than expected as they all became very absorbed in the final decoration and quality of finish but the results were very impressive. We just need to find a place to display them although we are pleased that DT now has its own instagram account (@queenswooddesign).
They are now working on a much larger scale, designing and making tables and stools in preparation for the projects they will be embarking on as they move into Year 11. They are working with wood, metal and plastic and Mr Turner (who only has one pair of hands!) is really impressed with their creativity and imagination and how they all help each other in the workshop to achieve such great results.
