Year 10 Geographers in at the deep end

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Year 10 Geographers enjoyed a sunny few days in North Norfolk at the end of April, where the girls completed their data collection in preparation for their GCSE controlled assessment write-up.

The girls stayed at the Kingswood residential outdoor learning centre at the tranquil and stately setting of Overstrand Hall. Combined with the girls’ academic work were activities such as the high ropes, climbing wall and aeroball. The girls learnt to work constructively as a team and demonstrated self-confidence in themselves while showing trust and support for others.

Data measurements were collected from the River Glaven at chosen sites from the source to the mouth near Cley. Their aim, through their fieldwork and research, was to learn about river processes and the effects on the surrounding landscape.

All girls completed statistical analysis of their data using up to date GIS technology.  The girls should be congratulated on their hard work, and the enthusiasm they showed for all activities.
