Year 11 A-Level Taster Days
Friday 20 January 2023
As their GCSE mock exams drew to a close, pupils in Year 11 had the chance to experience life in the Sixth Form on Thursday and Friday of this week.
A special timetable of taster lessons in the 28 subjects offered at A-Level allowed pupils to get a flavour of the academic challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
In the subjects that are currently taught at GCSE, pupils learned how the A-Level curriculum develops the knowledge and skills they have accumulated so far. There are also several subjects that are entirely new to our Year 11s – Business, Economics, Media Studies, Photography, Politics and Psychology – and many pupils were intrigued to discover more.
The process of choosing options begins next week. At Queenswood we build the timetable based on pupils’ actual choices, and we do our best to accommodate the widest possible range of subject combinations.
Parents of Year 11 pupils should look out for a communication on Monday 23 January with video presentations from Mr Sheldon and heads of academic departments, along with link to a Google Form. The deadline for making choices is Monday 20 February 2023.
