Year 8 Mandarin Students in Chinatown
Friday 14 February 2025
The Year 8 Mandarin class took a trip to Chinatown on Friday 7 February. Let’s see what they thought of the experience...
Our school trip to Chinatown was such a fun and exciting experience!
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of beautiful red and gold decorations, with lanterns hanging above the streets. The atmosphere was lively, with the delicious smell of food filling the air. It felt like stepping into a completely different world, full of colours and energy.
We enjoyed exploring the narrow streets with lanterns high up above us, looking in various shops and there was a breathtaking amounts of different sweets. Of course, we all had to buy a few!
The atmosphere was lively. All of us gathered round and watched a chef baked dumplings.
One of the highlights of the trip was trying dim sum, which was absolutely delicious. We ate at a Chinese restaurant and shared different dishes like dumplings and buns, tasting all sorts of flavours. After that, we explored the shops and bought lots of yummy sweets, noodles, and other snacks to take home.
The stores were packed with interesting foods and treats we had never seen before. Walking through Chinatown, we took in all the sights, from the intricate shop signs to the decorative arches. The trip was such a memorable experience, and I would love to visit again!
