Congratulations to OQ Yanmo Omorogbe for featuring in the Forbes Africa August/September edition, highlighting her amazing work in the fintech industry (financial technology). Yanmo is a Co-Founder and Director of Growth at Bamboo, which is a digital investment platform and online brokerage service, giving Africans and their wealth managers direct access to the US and global securities.

After completing a Masters in Engineering and Chemical Engineering at Imperial College, London, Yanmo decided to relocate from the UK to Nigeria. Yanmo recalls in the article that without a clear idea of what she wanted to do, she remembered a talk she heard about what to do when you are stuck.  “I was watching a talk and it said if you can’t figure out what to do or if you are trying to figure out your path in life, think of a problem that really bothers you and work towards fixing that and at the time I was trying to charge my phone and the battery was really low and there was no electricity so I couldn’t charge my phone and I was like ‘this is annoying’, and I said ‘I am going to work in power’, so I worked for the ministry of power”.
