Sixth Form Lecture Series: John Hoskison
Friday 24 September 2021
The new series of Sixth Form Lectures began on Friday 25 September with a profound talk from former professional golfer, John Hoskison.
John previously spoke to the current Upper Sixth in 2020. Following that occasion, Sienna W reported for the Queenswoodian magazine.
‘It was an impactful talk, with plenty of food for thought. What started off as a tale of self-defining success, with John rising up to become a professional golf player after running away from home, quickly became a harrowing discussion of the results of taking dangerous risks and ended up as an insight into conditions in modern prisons.
I was touched by John’s openness about the hardest parts of his life, and profoundly affected by his reflective introspection. Afterwards, I walked away with a newfound appreciation of the need to recognise and respect my own limits. All in all, it was a moving and insightful talk, powerfully delivered.’
