Maeve braves atrocious weather to complete Triathlon challenge
Friday 12 October 2018
Maeve Goldman (Year 9) battled horrendous weather conditions on Sunday 23 September to complete a triathlon at Hever Castle, raising an incredible £1,272.00 for Surfers Against Sewage.
She was fulfilling her commitment to support the charity of her choice as part of her Bat Mitzvah promise.
She pledged to swim 300 metres in a lake, followed by an 8 km cycle and then a 2.4 km run.
She was all set with her wetsuit on when the race committee took the late decision to cancel the Juniors' swim, as the conditions were so bad that many of the adults doing the triathlon were suffering from hypothermia!
Instead, Maeve ran, cycled and ran again – technically a duathlon but just as rigorous.
Many congratulations to Maeve for this superb achievement.
