The Hurley Cup 2023
Thursday 20 April 2023
The annual Hurley Cup for Cross-Country took place on the afternoon of Thursday 20 April. Once again pupils, staff – and a number of our four-legged friends – donned House colours and fancy dress to complete the 1500m course through Queenswood’s beautiful campus.
For some of our elite runners, this was an opportunity to challenge the school record – still held by Rebecca Hurley OQ, whose father was a tremendous supporter of sport at Queenswood and is commemorated in the name of the competition.
For others, it was definitely the taking part and dressing up that counted, and we were delighted to spot sharks, crocodiles, minions and even a pantomime horse completing the course!
The overall winning House was Clapham North, and the individual prize-winners were as follows:
WINNER | 2nd PLACE | 3rd PLACE | |
YEAR 7 | Izzy M | Olivia E | Lucy H |
YEAR 8 | Estella B | Lucienne M | Bru B |
YEAR 9 | Rose-Ellen F | Evie K | Abi T |
YEAR 10 | Georgina H | Emily N | Helena B |
YEAR 11 | Emily T | Juniper W | Tilly M |
SIXTH FORM | Izzie E | Moni O | Sophia M |
Thank you to Mrs Colette Hurley and Rebecca for officiating at the prize-giving, to Steve White for preparing the course, to the PE Department for organising the event, and to Theodora C (Year 13) for photography.
