Design and Technology
Design and Technology at Queenswood prepares pupils to participate in tomorrow's rapidly changing technologies, encouraging them to think creatively. They are given opportunities to become problem solvers, both as individuals and in groups. Topics require them to look for needs, wants and opportunities and respond to them by developing their own solutions.
Practical skills are combined with an understanding of aesthetics, social and environmental issues, function and industrial practices. Design and Technology educates all pupils to become discriminating and informed users of products, as well as innovators. Through supportive and creative teaching, in the care of specialist teachers, students experience a range of resistant materials, textiles, graphics and computer aided design and manufacture.
The department offers GCSE Design and Technology and Art and Design: Textiles, and in the Sixth Form girls can study either Product Design or Fashion and Textiles at A-Level.
